CERIDWEN
CERIDWEN
Ceridwen was originally published in Pom Pom Quarterly’s Issue 26, Autumn 2018. This issue was full of designs inspired by night skies and especially, the moon. Fiona drew inspiration from the changing lunar phases. At first glance, this design is similar to a traditional cable sweater. However, after further investigation, the true magic of the piece, the moon phases, revel itself.
“Moody cables belong to shadowy autumn evenings, whether you spend them trick-or-treating or gathering plants for moon magic. Fiona’s relaxed cables hold a hidden message with central honeycomb panels echoing outward from full to crescent moons.” - Pom Pom Quarterly
Ceridwen is knit from the bottom up and in pieces. The body has a slight a-line shape so the bottom of the sweater is relaxed around the hips. Cables are worked on both, front and back pieces. Once the pieces are seamed together, the neck with be picked up and finished.

NOTES
This sweater is worked flat and in pieces before seaming them together. The neckband is picked up last and folded over for a smooth finish. If working with Illimani’s Amelie, be careful not to accidentally push the needle directly through the yarn. If too forceful, this can break the silk core of the yarn.
